Routes to Reconnection: Theatre & Young Audiences is an online working session bringing together theatre professionals, cultural and education workers, and young people to explore how we connect (or fail to connect) with youth audiences today.

Rather than presenting fixed models, the session opens a space for shared thinking around questions such as:

  • What do we offer, and what is actually needed?
  • Where do we see the strongest matches and mismatches?
  • What needs to shift: in institutions, formats, or ourselves?

The conversation will draw from practices many of us are already exploring:
diversifying programs, working with hybrid formats, developing media and communication specifically for younger audiences;
creating space for youth culture and including young people in decision-making processes;
building collaborations with schools and strengthening the role of arts education;
and experimenting with participatory formats, campaigns, and informal ways of reaching audiences (workshops, Q&As, cross-marketing, and cross-sector collaborations).

The session will combine short inputs by invited conversation openers with small-group discussions in breakout rooms (5–7 participants, mixing professionals and young people), leading to a collective mapping of ideas, possible routes and sideways to reconnection.

This session is part of TRY project, but it is an open invitation to reflect and reimagine together.

TRY (Theatre Reconnecting with Youth: Inspiring Co-Creations) is an international project realized by 5 partner organizations – Eho animato (Serbia), Peripetija (North Macedonia), ArtCanAct (Greece), Threepenny (Serbia) and ViceVersa (Czech Republic). TRY is co-funded by the Creative Europe program of the EU.

We would be very happy to have you in the room!
